HVAC Load and Energy Code Calculations for Developers and Owners

For developers and owners

Stamped load calculations and energy code calculations for commercial, industrial and multi-family developments, from a single building to a multi-building site.

The load calculations decide how much equipment you buy, and the energy code calculations decide what the building has to be built to. Both are on the critical path to a permit. We prepare stamped cooling and heating load calculations and energy code calculations for commercial, industrial and multi-family developments of any size.

What you get

  • Room-by-room cooling and heating loads by ASHRAE methods
  • Ventilation rates to the mechanical code the jurisdiction has adopted
  • Energy code compliance, demonstrated on performance where the code allows it
  • A written list of what the design must hold to in order to stay compliant
  • A stamped, plan-review-ready document

What it means for the project

Loads worked for the building. Loads are worked room by room from the drawings, not from square-foot allowances. In a multi-family building they are run for each unit type, because a tonnage rounded up once is rounded up in every unit of that type.

A route to compliance that fits the design. Where the code permits performance modeling, we look for a way to comply that lets the design keep what matters to it.

One scope for many buildings. The resort development in our representative projects covered seven new buildings and two renovations under one compliance scope. Multi-building projects are quoted individually.

Fewer surprises in plan review. More than 3,000 stamped projects since 2014, with a first-pass plan approval rate above 99% (a rolling five-year average, excluding revisions from client-supplied data or scope changes).

Fees and turnaround

For a single building, enter the project type and square footage in the online quote tool and, for most projects, a preliminary fee appears on screen; it is confirmed in writing once we review the scope. Most projects are returned within 5 to 10 business days of scope confirmation, with rush turnarounds when the schedule requires one.

Where we work

Adicot is licensed in eleven states; the codes each has adopted are on our state pages. Our principal is an NCEES Model Law Engineer, a designation that supports licensure applications in other U.S. jurisdictions, so ask us if your project is somewhere else.
