HVAC Load Calculations and Energy Code Compliance in Arkansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Wyoming
Licensed in all six
Stamped cooling and heating load calculations and energy code compliance for industrial, commercial and multi-family projects, with the codes each of these six states has adopted.
Adicot is licensed in each of these states. The codes they adopt differ more than most people expect: some are on recent editions, some on editions more than a decade old, and one has no statewide energy code at all. We confirm the adopted code with the jurisdiction before any calculation starts.
The same services in every state
Adicot provides the same engineering services in every state it is licensed in, for industrial, commercial and multi-family buildings of any size. What changes from state to state is the code the work is held to.
- Cooling Load/Heat Load Calculations: room-by-room loads worked with ASHRAE methods, with ventilation rates to the adopted code
- Energy Code Compliance: the building modeled and compliance demonstrated on performance, in the format the plan reviewer expects

The codes below are as of October 2026.
Arkansas
- Energy: the Arkansas Energy Code, based on the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code and ASHRAE 90.1-2007, mandatory statewide since January 1, 2015.
- Mechanical: the Arkansas Mechanical Code, which is the 2021 International Mechanical Code, adopted in 2022.
Louisiana
- Energy: commercial buildings must meet ASHRAE 90.1-2019, in effect since July 1, 2023 under the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code. Compliance is documented with COMcheck.
- Mechanical: the 2021 International Mechanical Code with Louisiana amendments, in effect since January 1, 2023.
- Next edition: the 2024 International Codes have been proposed to take effect on January 1, 2027.
Nebraska
- Energy: the Nebraska Energy Code, which is the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code, in effect since July 1, 2020. Where a city or county has not adopted an energy code, the state enforces it.
- Mechanical: adopted locally. Lincoln has enforced the 2021 International Mechanical Code since January 30, 2026.
Oklahoma
- Mechanical: the 2024 International Mechanical Code with Oklahoma amendments, in effect since September 14, 2026, adopted by the Oklahoma Uniform Building Code Commission.
- Energy: the commission's adopted commercial energy code is an older edition than its building and mechanical codes, and newer editions are under review. Cities may enforce their own.
Projects in Oklahoma: cooling load calculations for utility buildings in Snyder, 2023.
West Virginia
- Energy: the State Building Code adopts ASHRAE 90.1 for commercial buildings.
- Mechanical: the International Mechanical Code with state additions.
- Edition: West Virginia was updating its State Building Code in 2026, so we confirm the edition in force with the State Fire Marshal's office for each project.
Projects in West Virginia: load and ventilation calculations for a substation control building in Millwood, 2025, and a load calculation for a utility building in Grant County, 2026.
Wyoming
- Energy: Wyoming has no statewide energy code. Each city or county decides whether to adopt one, and which edition.
- Mechanical: the 2024 International Mechanical Code, adopted statewide in June 2024 with the 2024 International Building Code.
Projects in Wyoming: cooling load calculation for a utility building housing switchgear in Casper, 2023.
The Oklahoma, West Virginia and Wyoming projects are substation and utility control building work.
